Sam is a 2-3 yr old Great Dane. He is small for a male Dane weighing in at 100 pounds. He came to us underweight and with horrible flea allergies he had almost scratched all the hair off his back. His has been a sickening story - he was bought by a concerned citizen who had watched him grow up tied to a tree with a chain around his neck, no collar - a chain.... He had no dog house, No protection from the weather. She paid his owner $100 and took him to live on her ranch. Sam was an outside dog -I don't think they believed in flea prevention - his skin and coat were in terrible condition and had to have been that way for a long time. For the first time in his life - he is not constantly scratching.... the hair on his back is growing in white from his damaged skin.
His original owners apparently had enough money to get him a botched ear job. Just like owning this dog they didn't work at keeping his ears taped to get them to stand. I guess it was more work than they wanted to do because poor Sam's ears flop back against his head.
Sam LOVES to play with the other dogs - is a little shy aound them. He hates confrontation and will run away when the other males get growly and play a little to rough. He is an incredibly sweet boy who needs a real chance for a happy life!
Please email as the point of contact - I can not answer my cell phone during work hours!!
Thanks!
